Founded in 1998, the Missouri Valley Fly Fishers Club exists to mentor the sport of fly-fishing in North Dakota. We accomplish this purpose by sharing information at monthly meetings and sponsoring outings locally and abroad. Whether we're probing the depths of a local lake, working streamers on the Missouri River, enjoying an excursion to Canadian stillwaters, wading the crystalline streams of South Dakota's Black Hills or floating Montana's famed Bighorn there are plenty of hospitable members who can help you get more out of the world's greatest sport.

Paid members (sponsors) of the MVFF Club have access to "Members-Only" angling reports and critical, up-to-date information concerning where the fishing is hot, hotter and hottest! Also, sponsors are eligible to be, and participate in the nomination process of, club officers. And finally, sponsors can help determine our course on important issues by participating in club business meetings. Complimentary members enjoy access to the MVFF Club website, as well as participation in club meetings and outings.

Welcome to the Missouri Valley Fly Fishers! Whether you are a veteran fly angler or someone interested in getting started in fly fishing I invite you to become a member and join us in pursuit of North Dakota's abundant fly angling opportunities. Despite the common misconception that fly fishing is only effective for trout in streams, MVFF club members successfully catch every species of fish inhabiting North Dakota waters. Whether it is walleyes, panfish, bass, pike, musky, trout, carp or even catfish we regularly fly fish for these species and have techniques and flies to catch them all.

Why fly fishing? What is it about this particular type of angling technique that fascinates so many people ? Is it the unique nature of the cast? Is it the hand tied flies? Is it the mystique that surrounds fly fishing that is so intriguing, or is it the tug at the end of the line? In reality it is all these things and more that attract hundreds of people to fly fishing each year.

Henry David Thoreau once said, “Many go fishing all their lives and without knowing it is not the fish they are after.” And although his sentiment applies to all fishing this one thought is the essence of what makes fly fishing unique for many of us. It is knowing that it is not just the fish we are after but the beauty of the cast, the art of tying your own flies, the solitude, the majesty of old and new places, the friendships that develop, and yes, the tug at the end of the line. Fly fishing is a lifelong learning experience and we invite you to step into this wonderful labor of love and see for yourself what North Dakota has to offer fly anglers.

The Missouri Valley Fly Fishers club is dedicated to promoting fly fishing and all its incredible opportunities to anyone interested in learning. It matters not whether you are young or old, male or female, you can learn to be a fly angler more easily than you may believe. The Missouri Valley Fly Fishers can help you get started, assist you in honing your existing skills and offers fellowship to fly anglers in North Dakota.
