 “FISHING FOR FUN”
MVFF CLUB SOCIAL SUMMER OUTINGS
GUIDELINES

1. Any member can propose an outing location to the Executive Board for consideration.

2. The Executive Board will select a location, date and time for the monthly outings and post the information on the MVFF Club website in the Calendar tab.

3. There will be no alternate date for the outings. If the originally planned location, date and time do not happen for any reason there will be no attempt to reschedule.

4. We will try to post outings with ample time, however due to rapid changes in weather and fishing conditions we may post "imprompto" outings on short notice to take advantage of a hot lake, so check the calander OFTEN.

5. It is up to each club member to decide if he or she wants to attend the outing and decide for yourself when to arrive and how long to stay.

6. The Executive Board will not make any attempt to contact club members to “call off” an outing.

7. Everyone should clearly understand that although outings will be scheduled there should be no expectation that anyone but you may show up.

8. There will be no outing host, no planned program and no planned instruction, however most club members are very willing to give you a tip, a hand or help with a question.

9. Everyone attending the outing should expect to bring his/her own equipment, flies, food, beverages.

10. Everyone should expect to have fun.

March Events
April Events
1) This competition is open to all club members.

2) There will be two categories of tiers: Beginners and All Others. You decide which category you want to enter based on an honest assessment of your tying abilities.

3) There are two fly categories. You are to submit a fly to each category.

4. The first category is the contest fly. This is the mandatory tie, which means you must tie this fly exactly as the recipe states. The recipe will be posted on the club’s website.

5. The second category is the tie breaker. Use your own recipe for the fly and your exact recipe must accompany the fly.

6) The mandatory fly for the Beginners category is the Wooly Bugger. The tie breaker fly for the Beginners category is the Beadhead Hare’s Ear.

7. The mandatory fly for the All Others category is the Elk Hair Caddis. The tie breaker fly for the All Others category is the Stimulator.

8. You must register for the contest by sending an email to the club email address, available on our web site. Designate the category you wish to enter, i.e. Beginner or All Others.

9. First and second prizes will be awarded in each category. First prize is a copy of Tim Holsclag’s book “Smallmouth Fly Fishing” and all the flies entered in the category. Second prize is a Smallmouth Angler fly bag.

9. Flies must be turned in at the April MVFF meeting.

10. The decision of the judges is final. No whimpering, sniveling, or sobbing before, during or after the contest. Have fun!
